For fire safety, this is a specialist area and normally only offered by certain types of surveyor who are competent in understanding fire science, passive and active fire measures.

FIRE SAFETY ACT 2021

The Bill clarifies that for any building containing two or more sets of domestic premises the Order applies to the building’s structure and external walls and any common parts, including the front doors of residential areas.

WHAT IS A COMPARTMENTATION SURVEY?

The objective of fire compartmentation is to prevent the rapid spread of smoke and fire. By subdividing the building, we can protect escape routes, high risk or high-value areas and prevent extensive losses.

 

 

Following a clarification of fire safety legislation in England & Wales where a building contains two or more sets of domestic premises then the buildings structure and external wall are to be assessed in the fire risk assessment. In this scenario the external wall means doors or windows in those walls, and anything attached to the exterior of those walls (including balconies).
